Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has allowed use of identity proofs other than voter ID card for voting during by-poll to Dhamnagar assembly constituency to be held on November 3.
A voter can exercise his franchise if he/she is unable to show the voter card issued by the Election Commission of India.
The EC, in its directive, allowed Aadhar Card, MNREGA job card, bank or post office passbook having passport photo, health insurance smart card, Driving License, PAN card, Passport, pension book, service card of State or central government, MLA and MP card and UID card issued by the government of India as an alternative to Voter ID card during polling.
The EC’s directive stated that people can show any one of the identity proof while voting in the by-election.
As many as 2,38,417 voters will exercise their franchise at 252 booths in the Dhamnagar bypoll.
