Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID tally rose to 56,5648 after 10,982 positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data. Meanwhile, the total number of deaths climbed to 2,232 with 17 fresh fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours, the data showed.
Accordingly, the number of active cases climbed to 98,230.
As per the data, Khurda district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, reported the maximum number of new cases at 1593, followed by Sundergarh at 964 and Cuttack at 885.
Taking to Twitter, the health department said, “Regret to inform the demise of seventeen numbers of Covid positive patients while under treatment in hospitals.”
Four fatalities were recorded in Angul, Balasore, Boudh, Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Khurdha, Nuapada, Puri, and Sundergarh.
As many as 4,65,133 patients have so far recovered from the highly infectious disease.
