Bhubaneswar: The third wave of Covid-19 seems imminent, however, Odisha is capable of fighting it, said Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra.
Mishra informed that more than 1500 people from ‘at risk’ countries have come to Odisha so far. The way the virus has spread in Britain, a 3rd wave seems imminent. We have enhanced surveillance.
Preparations are also on and regular reviews of necessary infrastructure are being done, the top official added.
Meanwhile, there has been a suggestion to increase the number of samples being sent for genome sequencing.
When asked about a foreign returnee in Cuttack being infected with Omicron variant, the official said that, “We have no evidence related to this, but the administration has been asked to submit details.”
