Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has directed all the District Collectors of the state to decide to reopen schools based on the weather conditions.
According to this order, the District Collectors will declare holidays or change the schedule of government, private and government-aided schools from class 1 to 12 depending on the weather conditions in their respective districts.
This instruction will remain in force till 20.6.2024.
As per School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, morning classes will be held from 6:30 AM till 10 AM up to June 20 if weather conditions are favourable and schools are allowed to open.
Earlier, amid the rising heatwave conditions in the state, the Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) appealed to the newly elected Odisha BJP government to extend the summer vacation for students.
The OSSTA also demanded the summer holidays to be extended until the heatwave conditions normalize. If not for more days, the government should at least extend the holidays for another 3-4 days, they demanded.
