Puri: The chairman of the high-level committee reconstituted by the Odisha government, Justice Biswanath Rath, has announced that the Ratna Bhandar, the treasure trove of Lord Jagannath, may be opened on July 14.
A proposal in this regard will be submitted to the Odisha government, and the committee has reached a consensus that the Ratna Bhandar will be reopened, regardless of the availability or functionality of the key.
The committee has also identified a designated place within the temple for the shifting of ornaments, and it has been emphasized that the nature and character of the ornaments need to be considered before the inventory work can commence.
Additionally, the state government needs to make necessary provisions for the formation of teams and the selection of confidential and experienced individuals for the inventory work.
Justice Biswanath Rath said that the committee reached a consensus that whether the key is available or not or whether it functions or not, Ratna Bhandar will be reopened.
“The Odisha government and the Managing Committee will now have some time to decide. We hope that the government will provide the necessary permission to us,” said Justice Rath.
