New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the ‘Prerna Sthal’ at the Parliament House on Sunday. This newly inaugurated area within the Parliament House Complex houses statues of eminent leaders and freedom fighters who played pivotal roles in India’s history, cultural renaissance and the struggle for independence.
Earlier these statues were located randomly throughout the complex, making it difficult for visitors. The establishment of Prerna Sthal aims to consolidate these significant figures in one place so that dignitaries and other visitors can conveniently see and pay tribute.
Lawns and gardens are laid around the statues. QR codes placed near the statues for visitors to learn more about the lives and contributions of these great Indians, for inspiration from their lives.
During the inauguration program, dignitaries unveiled the Shilapatt (headstone) and offered floral tributes to the statues. Among other dignitaries, Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha Om Birla, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, and Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and L Murugan were present at the occasion and paid their tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
