Thiruvananthapuram: At least six persons have been arrested for conducting an illegal bullock cart race in Malampuzha village in Kerala.
The arrest was made following a complaint from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The FIR, registered against the six persons, includes the provisions of Sections 3 and 11(1)(a) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
All six accused were arrested and later released on bail.
Earlier, on September 5, 2014, the High Court of Kerala passed an order stating that it is bound by the observations and views of the 2014 Supreme Court judgment that upheld the ban imposed by the Central Government’s Notification dated July 11, 2011.
