Bhubaneswar: The family members of the workers trapped in the tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi met 5T, Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian at Naveen Niwas here.
Worth mentioning, the state government has made all arrangements to take the workers’ family members to Uttarkashi.
The 5T Chairman informed them about the various measures taken by the State Government for the safety of the workers. The State government officials and special teams have camped at the rescue operation site and are in regular touch with the rescue team. All our workers are safe, Panidan said.
He assured the kin of the trapped workers that the Chief Minister is fully aware of the incident and is taking regular updates regarding the safety and rescue operations of the workers.
The 5T Chairman reassured them that the rescue operation is underway and they will soon return to their families.
The Odisha government has made all arrangements to take the workers’ family members to Uttarkashi on the instructions of the Chief Minister. They are Phulachand Bhatra of Nabarangpur district, Bimala Nayak of Mayurbhanj district and Chittaranjan Nayak of Mayurbhanj district.
The families of two others have already reached Uttarakashi. It will enable the stranded workers to meet their families after rescue.
At least five persons from Odisha are among the 40-workers who have been trapped after an under-construction tunnel on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district which partially collapsed on Sunday.
The trapped workers from Odisha have been identified as Tapan Mandal from Sankarshanpur, Bhagaban Batra from Nabarangpur, Bisweswar Nayak from Mayurbhanj, Raju Naik from Mayurbhanj and Dhiren from Badakudar while other workers trapped inside the tunnel are mostly from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
