Bhubaneswar: Intensifying the probe into the death of lady journalist Madhumita Parida’s suicide in Bhubaneswar, Dhauli police took her accused husband Sridhar Jena on a day remand on Thursday.
After interrogation, the police took him to a rented house in the Indira Colony and collected evidence after investigation. Police have seized a handwritten suicide note and a diary from the rented house.
According to the information, Madhumita allegedly committed suicide on the evening of July 24 by jumping in front of a train due to marital problems. However, her family has accused Jena of murder alleging his extramarital affair, which led to his arrest. Refuting allegations from her family, Jena informed that Madhumita and her family knew that he was previously married and divorced.
Notably, Madhumita’s dead body was recovered from Bhubaneswar on the 24th night near Bapuji Nagar Railway Station. Prior to her death, Madhumita posted a 4-minute video on Instagram accusing her husband of infidelity. Police arrested her husband Sridhar Jena the next day in the incident. The police have sent Jena’s mobile phone to a lab for forensic analysis.
