Bhubaneswar: According to the Supreme Court’s order, the Election Commission has asked the parties to make public the criminal record of each candidate. This information is also being made public on behalf of the political parties. Earlier, the BJD had declared its candidates for 15 Lok Sabha and 72 assembly seats and made their criminal records public today.
There are 2 cases in the court of Kabisuryanagar JMFC and Bhubaneswar SDJM in the name of BJD’s Polasara MLA candidate Srikant Sahu. In one case charges have been framed. While one case is pending for hearing and the other is under investigation.
Similarly, there are 11 cases in the name of Sudam Marndi, the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha candidate of BJD. These cases are in Baripada SDJM’s court and Rairangpur and Baleswar SDJM’s courts. Charges have been framed in all the cases and are pending hearing.
There is one case in the court of Angul JMFC in the name of Minister Prafulla Mallik, who was the BJD candidate in the Kamakhyanagar seat. There are also two cases in the court of Baleswar JMFC in the name of BJD Jaleswar candidate, minister Ashwini Patra.
There is one case under trial in the court of Berhampur JMFC in the name of Biplab Patrai who is BJD’s candidate for the first time in the Digapahandi seat. There are 5 cases in the name of Sudhir Samal, BJD’s Dhenkanal candidate in the Dhenkanal Special Court and SDJM Court and SDJM Court in Talcher.
There are three cases in the special court of Bhubaneswar and one case in the court of Kotpad JMFC in the name of MLA Manohar Randhari, who is contested from Dabugaon. All these cases are pending. In the name of MLA Umakant Samantaray of Brahmagiri seat, there are four cases in the court of Puri SDJM and Bhubaneswar SDJM. Charges have been framed in all the cases.
There are 2 cases under investigation at Rajpur police station in Dehradun, Uttarakhand against Bolangir MLA candidate Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo. In the name of Bhatli MLA candidate Sushant Singh, there are 2 cases in Bhatli and Bargarh SDJM courts. Bhadrak MLA Prafulla Samal has no case, but he was summoned by the ED, the declaration states.
There are 3 cases in Sambalpur and Bargarh SDJM courts and Barpali JMFC in the name of Bargarh candidate MLA Debesh Acharya. Charges have been framed in all the cases. There is one case in Kotpad JMFC in the name of Jharigaon MP Ramesh Chandra Majhi. No charge frame has been made in this case. Similarly, there is a case in Jeypore JMFC in the name of MLA Raghuram Padal, BJD’s candidate for the Koraput assembly seat.
BJD’s Kotpad MLA candidate Chandrashekhar Majhi has one case pending in the court of Kotpad JMFC, while Nuapada candidate Minister Rajendra Dholakia has one case in the Balangir JMFC-1 court. Patnagarh candidate MLA Saroj Meher has 2 cases in Bhubaneswar Special Court and Patnagarh SDJM Court.
There is one case in the Bhubaneswar special court in the name of Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, BJD’s candidate for the Satyabadi assembly seat. Likewise, there are 15 cases in the name of Pradeep Majhi, BJD’s candidate for the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat. These cases are in special courts.
There are two non-bailable cases in the name of BJD candidate for Lok Sabha Manmath Routray. The case is in the court of Bhubaneswar JMFC and the charges have been framed. Both cases are pending for hearing. The case number is GR 4556/2019 and 1CC No. 967/2021.
