Bangriposi: At least six persons were killed and over ten people sustained critical injuries after the truck in which they were travelling turned turtle at Dwarsuni Ghat under Bangriposi block in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.
As per reports, the truck of the ‘Dhauli Gananatya’ play was on its way from Rairangpur to Jaleswar. Over 20 people were travelling in the vehicle. The mishap occurred when the truck driver lost control of the wheels and the truck overturned on National Highway 49 at Dwarsuni Ghat in Bangriposi. As a result, six of the passengers lost their lives while over ten others were seriously injured.
On receiving the information, police and fire brigades rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured persons have been admitted to the Pandit Raghunath Medical College, Baripada for treatment. They are said to be in critical condition.
The dead bodies have been sent to the Community Health Center, Bangriposi for post-mortem. The driver of the truck fled away from the spot after the incident.
