Mayurbhanj: An elephant calf fell into a well at Sureidihi village under Rasgovindpur forest range in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.
The villagers came to the animal’s rescue as soon as they heard of it being trapped in the well but in vain.
A team of forest department employees rushed to the spot being informed about the incident and launched an operation to rescue the pachyderm.
The rescue operation is underway for the last few hours.
