Two Killed, 7 Injured After Pick-Up Van Rams Into Tree In Keonjhar

Ghatagaon: Two persons were killed and five others were injured after the pick-up van they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree at Nakajhari Chowk near Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district on Thursday.

According to reports, the pick-up van was returning from a picnic at Kalimati Dam when the driver lost control and the vehicle dashed into a tree at Nakajhari Chowk leaving two persons dead on the spot.

The deceased persons are identified as Abhimanyu Patra (55) of Binajhari village and Shamad Khan (40) of Uparadiha village, both within Ghatagaon police station limits.

Two injured persons, Ranjan Nath of Bhadrak and Rahul Naik (18) of Boula Shankhula village have been shifted to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital as their condition was critical.

Four other injured persons, Rudra Naik (18), Tirtha Palei (35) & Ranjan Palei (27), all hailing from Mukundapurpatna village and Tiku Kumar of Jharkhand are undergoing treatment at the local Community Health Centre.

The pick-up van driver, Sudam Charan Jena, was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment.
