Odisha CM Hikes Remuneration, Meeting Allowances Of Panchayati Raj Representatives

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has increased the gratuity and meeting allowances of Panchayatiraj representatives of the state.

It is worth noting that the Panchayati Raj representatives met 5T and Nabin Odisha chairman Mr. Karthik Pandian during his various district visits and made requests and proposals regarding this hike.

According to the decision, the district council presidents will get a monthly remuneration of 30,000 rupees instead of 9,380 rupees. Their daily allowance DA+Sitting fee has also been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 600. The remuneration of District Council Vice-Presidents has been increased from Rs 7,040 to Rs 20,000 and their DA+SF allowance has also been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 600. While the district council members were getting Rs 3,530, now they will get Rs 10,000 monthly remuneration and their daily allowance DA+SF has also been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 600.

Similarly, Panchayat Samiti chairpersons were getting Rs.3,530. Now they will get Rs 15,000. Panchayat Samiti vice-presidents used to get a remuneration of Rs 2,350. Now they will get Rs 7,500. Panchayat Samiti members used to get Rs 2,350. Now they will get Rs 7,500. Similarly, Sarpanchs will get Rs 10,000 while they were getting Rs 2,350 earlier. Naib Sarpanchs will now get Rs 4,000 while they were getting Rs 940 earlier. The daily allowance DA+SF of Panchayat Samiti Chairman, Deputy, Panchayat Samiti members, Sarpanch, Naib Sarpanch and Ward members has been increased from Rs.240 to Rs.480.

It is worth noting that earlier, Rs 79.88 crore was spent on remuneration and allowances of Panchayati Raj representatives. According to the increased amount, now 242.56 crores will be spent. The state government will bear an additional cost of Rs.162.68 crore for this.

Apart from this, in case of death during the tenure of the Panchayati Raj representatives, a sum of Rs. 2 lakh will be provided as ex gratia. Along with this, Rs 2 lakh will be provided in case of complete disability (Irrecoverable Loss of both eyes, hands and feet). Similarly, in case of partial disability (irreparable loss of one eye, one hand or one leg) assistance of Rs. 1 lakh will be provided.
