Mandi: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who was contesting for the Lok Sabha elections in India as her debut has reportedly won the elections. Kangana Ranaut was contesting for the elections from the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh.
This was the Queen actress’ first time contesting for an election and has managed to win it too. In the process, she beat one of the veteran and politically established leaders to claim the constituency seat.
Kangana Ranaut was contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on behalf of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). She was battling for a seat in the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, which is her home state.
Himachal Pradesh consists of four constituencies, namely, Kangra, Mandi, Hamirppur and Shimla. Mandi was a natural choice for Kangana Ranaut’s political debut since she has her roots in the city.
Sarkaghat is a town and a tehsil located near the Mandi city of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. Being her hometown, she was handed a ticket from the BJP for the constituency.
After her historic victory, Kangana Ranaut, in a press conference, said, “We fought this election in the name of Narendra Modi. It is the result of his credibility and his guarantee and the faith of people in him that we are going to form the government for the third time.”
In the process, the Bollywood actress defeated the Indian National Congress’ established leader Vikramaditya Singh, who currently serves as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Shimla Rural constituency. Singh is the son of the former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Late Virbhadra Singh. Additionally, his mother Pratibha Singh is a Member of Parliament from Mandi, Lok Sabha Constituency.
