Five Held For Beating Army Jawan To Death In Ganjam

Berhampur: Five persons were arrested for allegedly beating Army jawan, Dilleswar Patra to death in Haripur village of Ganjam district on Friday. Previous enmity between two groups in the village was said to be the reason for the incident.

The arrested persons have been identified as J Kalyani Patra (19), Ch Shekhar Patra (23), B Cheneya Patra (26), B Bulu Patra (26) and Ch Vicky Patra (26). The police have also seized two bikes and two mobile phones from the accused.

According to reports, Dilleswar, a resident of Kalipalli village was posted at Pannagada in West Bengal’s Durgapur district. He had come home on leave around a week ago.

On December 3, he was assaulted by some miscreants while returning home after watching a cricket match at Haripur Street in Chamakhandi. Being seriously injured in the incident, he was first admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital and then shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors declared him dead.
