Cuttack: The historic ‘Bali yatra’ in Cuttack will kick off on the banks of Mahanadi river from November 15 this year, informed District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde. The district administration on Thursday conducted the first preparatory meeting for the mega trade fair.
The duration of the mega festival, organised to celebrate the glorious maritime history of Odisha, will be discussed in the next meeting, the Collector said.
The meeting emphasised vehicle parking, traffic control and equal convenience for the visitors and traders at the historic state festival.
“Efforts are on for smooth allotment of stalls to all the traders coming to set up tents at ‘Bali Jatra’. So, we are planning to open single window system. The administration is also making plans to ease traffic congestion that will be caused due to the huge rush,” Collector Shinde informed.
He further added that a more spacious place would be allocated for vehicle parking and police personnel and volunteers would be deployed to check on vehicular movements to avoid traffic woes.
“A green corridor will also be set up for ambulances, emergency vehicles and VIP guests. The number of washrooms will be increased this time,” the Collector informed
