A parliamentarian is not immune to racist threats in Germany. Karamba Diaby, the first black, Africa-born German Lawmaker reported on his Instagram profile about the death threat against him and vowed to “fight back.”
“I will not be intimidated. I will fight back,” Diaby wrote in the post. Further, he announced that he would now expose all the hate-mongering profiles by publishing their recent threats and racist messages against him. His staff are also getting threatening letters with violent images and racist slurs.
The politician was born in Senegal in 1961 and received a scholarship to study in the former East The politician was born in Germany while in his 20s, according to a biography on his website.
The 62-year-old politician was born in 1961 in Senegal, a West African country and in his 20s came with a study scholarship, later settled in Germany. Diaby was elected to the Foreign Affairs Committee in 2013 to Bundestag, the German parliament.
Diaby’s office, located in the heart of Halle, has been subjected to multiple assaults which include, the office door being set ablaze in May 2023.
In a recent social media update on Friday, Diaby expressed his concern about the increasingly severe tone in political discourse. He stated, “For me, the level of hatred and agitation has reached a new level. I now encounter it every day in the news and commentaries, but also in the German Bundestag.”
He further highlighted that racial and ethnic minorities, Jews, Muslims, women and the queer community are routinely subjected to “animosity and aggression” in Germany.
