Torture Slur: DIG Brijesh Rai Transferred To State HQs

Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS Officer, Brijesh Kumar Rai, who was serving as the DIG, Angul has been transferred to Odisha State Police Headquarters Cuttack.

According to reports, a woman home guard, after losing her legs in an attempted suicide, had alleged harassment charges against the senior police official and his wife.

As per reports, the woman home guard of Angul, Sairindri Sahoo has alleged that she was deployed for household work of the DIG and his wife used to mentally and physically harass her many times following which attempted to commit suicide.

After losing both her legs on August 4, she is now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. On August 13, she also wrote a letter to the Police DG apprising him about the harassment she was subjected to by the police officer and his wife, but in vain.

Sairindri Sahoo has been working as a home guard in Angul district for the last 19 years and after Brijesh Kumar Rai took charge as the DIG of Angul, Sairindri was allegedly deployed to do household chores at the police official’s residence.

On August 4, the police official’s wife shoved her out of the house and threatened to get her dismissed from the job. Unable to bear such harassment, she attempted to commit suicide.
