Three dead after SUV hits bike in Bolangir

Bolangir: Three persons died after the motorcycle they were travelling in was hit by a speeding SUV near Karkachia Chowk on Loisingha-Bharsuja road in Bolangir district on Friday.

The deceased persons have been identified as Rajesh Patel of Rota village, his brother-in-law Tulasiram Patel Sadipali village, and his friend Suranjan Patel of Kushang village.

The trio was travelling on a bike from Rota village towards Bolangir when a Bolero coming from the opposite direction hit their bike near Karkachia Chowk and sped away.

According to sources, the collision was so intense that the trio was thrown to a distance. Some employees of Electricity department rescued the three in a critical condition and admitted them to Loisingha Hospital. However, the doctors declared the three dead.

On the other hand, the Bolero vehicle that caused the accident was intercepted and vandalided by the people and the driver was handed over to the police after a sound thrashing by an irate mob.

Loisingha police have launched an investigation into the accident.
