Bhubaneswar: A thick blanket of dense fog enveloped several places in Odisha including twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar today.

Similarly, traffic in the city and on the national highways, passing through the state capital and other towns witnessed restricted drive for the fog condition.

Earlier, several parts of Odisha had experienced the winter chill with minimum temperature dropping by two to three degrees than the normal temperature.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the blanket of dense fog reduced visibility to 100 meters. Dense for was also reported from other places of the state, including Rourkela where visibility was reduced to 50 meters. Dense fog also occurred in Dhenkanal reducing visibility to as low as 20 meters.

The IMD has issued an alert for dense fog at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput on Thursday.
