Sundargarh: Odisha Vigilance sleuths today apprehended the forest guard and the watcher of Dharanidharpali Nursery under Bonai forest range in Sundargarh district while taking a bribe of Rs. 7,000.
The accused have been identified as Sanatan Patra, Forest guard and Narendra Kalo, watcher of the forest range.
Both the accused were caught red-handed by the vigilance while receiving the illegal gratification from a Complainant to facilitate release of the seized two-wheeler of her husband.
On the direction of accused Forest Guard, the watcher received bribe money from the Complainant. Accused Forest Guard was present at the spot during the entire process. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized, vigilance said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of the forest guard from DA angle. In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.32 dtd.18.12.2023, U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the two accused persons.
