Bhubaneswar: BJD leader Sulochana Das took oath as the Mayor of Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Saturday.
Das was administered the oath by the Director of Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak.
On the other hand, 67 other corporators of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation have taken their oath today.
The BJD leader had won in the recent polls defeating her nearest rival Suniti Mund of the BJP by a margin of 61,143 votes.
It is pertinent to mention that Sulochana became the first woman mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). She began her career as a journalist, started her political journey with the Congress and later joined the Biju Janata Dal.
Das was made the state commissioner for persons with disabilities by the Odisha government in 2019 before being declared as BJD’s nominee for the BMC Mayor post by party president Naveen Patnaik.
