Bhubaneswar: In yet another case of animal cruelty, as many as five puppies were crushed to death at Goshaneswar square under Lingaraj police limits in the capital city. Besides, police detained a person in this connection.
The detainee has been identified as Prafulla Rout.
According to available information, Rout had run over one puppy two days back and five more puppies the next day. While four puppies died on the spot, one sustained critical injuries.
Later, the organisation ‘Seva Hin Sankalpa’ members rescued one canine and admitted it to OUAT for treatment.
On the other hand, Rout’s wife said due to old age, her husband could not see the puppies sleeping on the road and ran over them.
Later, Rout was released with a notice.
