New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the phase (a 246-km section) of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa.
The 246 km Delhi – Dausa – Lalsot section of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,150 crore.
With the operation of the Sohna-Dausa stretch, the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur will reduce from 5 hours to 3 hours. This will also provide a major boost to economic development of the entire region.
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be India’s longest expressway with a length of 1,386 km. This expressway will reduce the travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 12 percent from 1,424 km to 1,242 km and the travel time will be reduced by 50 percent from 24 hours to 12 hours.
The highway will have high-quality 360-degree cameras installed to capture every vehicular movement. These cameras will alert the control room if any vehicle stops without any reason. The siren will automatically give an intimation to the control room and the driver shall get the E challan then and there.
The expressway will have a tree cover of 20 lakh trees hatred with drip irrigation along the entire stretch. There will also be a rainwater harvesting system at every 500 metres.
There will reportedly be 95 wayside amenities along the highway. These amenities include, -restaurants, dormitories, cafes, hotels and trauma centres. These centres are constructed on both sides of the road. In case any accident happens, immediate help will be provided. The highway will have over 2,00 water exchange points.
