Leopard Skin Seized In Kandhamal, One Held

Kandhamal: The Special Task Force seized a leopard skin in Manipadar village
under Phiringia Police Station Kandhamal district and arrested one person in this connection.

The accused has been identified as Belarsen Kanhar (43) of Kurkanapali (Kelapada), under
Firingia police station in Kandhamal district.

Based on intelligence, the team of cops conducted a raid on the side of SH-1 near Manipadar village and arrested the wildlife criminal.

During the search one Leopard Skin, cash of Rs. 5500 along with other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.

The accused person could not produce any authority in support of the possession of such Leopard Skin, for which he has been apprehended and will be forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Phulbani Dist. Kandhamal.

In this connection, STF PS Case No. 11 dated 04.03.2024 U/s 379/411 IPC r/w. Sec.51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was registered.

The skin will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun for biological examination. The investigation is going on.
The accused was earlier involved in the Kodala PS Case. 224/2016 U/s. 342/343/364-A/365/385/387/34 IPC.
