Kalahandi: The absence of a pucca road connecting to Kinjikana village in Kalahandi district forced a pregnant woman to be transported on a cot to cover around 3 km distance to reach the ambulance.

The ambulance could not reach the village situated under Dasigaon panchayat of Junagarh block in the district due to the lack of pucca road.

As per reports, a pregnant woman named Raimati Majhhi suffered labor pain on Sunday. Getting the information, Asha worker Uma Bag called the ambulance. But the ambulance could not reach the village.

Hence, Raimati was lofted on a cot with the help of some villagers up to 3 km to the waiting ambulance. But on her way, she gave birth to a girl baby. After reaching the ambulance, the mother and the daughter were taken to the Chiliguda hospital. Both are well, said the doctors.
