Kalahandi: Odisha vigilance sleuths on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids at places associated with the Ex-chairman of Golamunda panchayat samiti in Kalahandi district on charges of amassing disproportionate assets.
The accused has been identified as Bindu Mahananda, Ex-Chairman, Golamunda Panchayat Samiti, A/p-Panchayat Samiti Member, in Kalahandi district.
Reportedly, the vigilance team led by y 1 Additional SP, 3 DSPs, 4 Inspectors and other staff at 5 different places in Kalahandi district on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bindu Mahananda while functioning as Chairman, Golamunda Panchayat Samittee, in Kalahandi district was involved in a criminal case of Kegaon Police Station in Kalahandi district for misappropriation of Govt. funds to the tune of Rs.43,67,901/- meant for beneficiaries under PM Fasal Vima Yojana. He was arrested by Kegaon Police in this case on 22.09.2023.
Following this, verification was conducted against Mahananda by Odisha Vigilance on DA angle. After due verification, search warrants were obtained from the Special Judge Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
Searches are continuing. Further reports are awaited.
