Four Leopard Skins Seized From Similipal, 3 Wildlife Smugglers Held

Baripada: Forest department officials on Sunday conducted a raid at Bahalada village situated in the foothills of Similipal tiger reserve and seized four leopard skins while arresting three wildlife smugglers. However, two others managed to escape.

The arrested persons have been identified as Budhuram Singh and Mangal Singh of Balada village under Khunta police station and Rupay Marandi of Bangriposhi area. Along with the leopard hides, three mobile phones were also seized from him.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team comprising the officers and staff of Tiger Conservation Project North and Rairangpur Forest Division, including the forest officers and other staff raided in Bahalada village under Khunta PS of Baripada in the foothills of Similipal.

 

The raid was conducted under the joint leadership of Baripada Divisional Forest Officer Santosh Kumar Joshi and Deputy Director of Similipal tiger conservation project (South) Samrat Gouda.
