Five Dead In Koraput Boat Capsize; CM Naveen Announces Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of five people in a boat capsize incident in Nandapur block of Koraput district yesterday.

Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, the Odisha CM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs four lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased.

After hours of search operation, the ODRAF & Nandapur fire services personnel this afternoon fished out 4 more bodies from the Tansing ghat area in Koraput, while the body of a woman was recovered from the river yesterday late evening.

The victims, including three women— Lalmani Sisa (50), Shashirekha Arlab (35), Naveena Arlab (14), and two minor girls Pushpanjali Arlab (5) and Kranthi Sisa (8)— were returning to their native village Tansing in Kulasing Panchayat of Nandapur Block, when the boat capsized. The incident took place when they were returning from Badel village after attending a marriage function.
