Cuttack: Decomposed carcass of a tusker was recovered from Badamba forest near Nijigarh in Cuttack district on Friday.
Locals first spotted the body of the tusker and informed the Forest department personnel about this. On receiving the information, the officials rushed to the spot and seized the carcass.
Thereafter, the carcass was sent to the forensic Lab for further testing. Meanwhile, the autopsy report of the elephant is awaited. The exact reason of the death will be known after the post-mortem, the officials said. It is worth mentioning that elephants often found dead in this area.
