CM Naveen Pays Last Respects to Martyred Odia Jawan Saroj Kumar Das

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his last respects to Odia Jawan Saroj Kumar Das, who was martyred in Sikkim flash floods triggered by a cloudburst.

The Odisha CM paid humble tributes to the martyred Jawan Saroj Das after the latter’s mortal remains arrived at Bhubaneswar airport on Saturday. A guard of honour was accorded to the martyred Odia Jawan.

Odia jawan Saroj Kumar Das was reportedly among 23 army personnel who went missing due to a flash flood in the Teesta River in North Sikkim.

Saroj Das hails from Kendudhipa village under Kamakhyanagar police station in Dhenkanal district. He recently got married in February and has been serving as an EME Jawan in the army since 2012.

According to reports, the mortal remains are being taken to his native village where the last rites will be performed with full state honours.
