Bhadrak police raided cattle smugglers late Wednesday night, seizing nine cows along with vehicles and arresting two accused, while others managed to escape.
Acting on a tip‑off, Bhadrak Old Bazaar police conducted a raid in Nangamahala area. Officers found smugglers preparing to transport cattle. As the group attempted to flee, police arrested two men identified as Aulad Kadri and Ismail Khan. Both have long been involved in cattle trafficking, according to police sources.
During the operation, police seized nine cows, a pickup van, a Bolero, and a motorcycle. The rescued cattle were sent for health examination and later handed over to a local goshala.
City DSP Anil Pradhan confirmed the arrests and seizures at a press briefing. He stated that while two accused were caught, several others escaped. Police are now searching for the mastermind behind the racket, who remains at large.
