A case has been registered against Pattamundai Excise Sub‑Inspector Chhayakanta Nayak at Rajnagar police station following allegations of custodial torture of a villager from Baradia.
According to reports, the villager had informed the excise department about the illegal liquor trade in the area. During a raid, he allegedly recorded video footage of the operation. Later, SI Nayak reportedly picked him up, assaulted him inside a vehicle, and kept him confined for nearly 12 hours.
Family members alleged that the victim was subjected to third‑degree methods for exposing the illegal liquor racket. They filed a written complaint at Rajnagar police station on May 31, leading to the registration of a case against the excise officer.
