Balangir: A major explosion occurred at Badmal ordnance factory in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday evening.
A fire occurred in an explosive storage godown (Magazine) of Ordnance Factory Badmal in Balangir district, at around 6:35 pm on Sunday, the 25th February. The magazine had explosive materiais like unserviceable propellants of old vintage.
Factory’s Fire Brigade personnel could extinguish the fire completely at aroun.r 8 45 pm. There is no injury to any person due to the fire. A Board of Officers lras been ordered to enquire into the incident.
According to sources, the explosion was so severe that fire appeared in the sky in an area of about 15-20 km. The incident triggered panic among local people, sources said.
