Nabarangpur: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday caught ARI(Asst. Revenue Inspector) I/c RI of Sanamasigano RI Circle under Nabarangpur Tehsil red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The accused officer has been identified as Jagdish Behera.
According to reports, the officer had demanded Rs 5,000 from the complainant in order to furnish an enquiry report to Tehsildar for issuance of a legal heir certificate in favour of the complainant.
The anti-corruption wing laid a trap and apprehended the RI while he was receiving the gratification.
Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are going on at two locations of Behera from a DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S case No 01/2023 U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. An investigation is in progress against the accused.
