President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday to mark the President’s birthday and the completion of two years of the BJP government in Odisha.
The Prime Minister announced development projects worth Rs 47,600 crore for the state.
Addressing the gathering, Modi congratulated President Murmu and said her journey from Mayurbhanj to the highest constitutional post is a matter of immense pride for Odisha and the nation. He praised Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, noting that Odisha has witnessed accelerated growth across all sectors in just two years.
The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several major projects, including Rs 811 crore for roads and bridges, Rs 530 crore for transport and connectivity, and Rs 3,218 crore for other infrastructure works. He also launched the Rs 25,000-crore Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project, Rs 17,117 crore in power infrastructure upgrades, and Rs 927 crore in additional development initiatives.
Modi dedicated two key railway projects—the Hindol-Meramandali multi-tracking and the Jakhapura–Jajpur Keonjhar Road–Baitarani Road multi-tracking—worth over Rs 732 crore. He declared President Murmu’s village, Pahadpur, as a “Surya Gram” and announced a new Navodaya Vidyalaya for the Mayurbhanj district.
President Murmu expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for visiting her village and lauded his efforts toward national development. She congratulated him on becoming India’s longest-serving Prime Minister and for his transformative initiatives across sectors.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, and Minister Pravati Parida attended the event.
