BTS leader RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, has achieved another major milestone in his global career. The rapper, songwriter, and art enthusiast has been appointed as the first-ever Global Public Relations Ambassador of the National Museum of Korea.
The announcement marks a significant moment for both RM and the museum, bringing together one of the world’s most influential artists and one of South Korea’s most important cultural institutions.
A Perfect Role for BTS’ Art-Loving Leader
The National Museum of Korea officially announced RM’s appointment, describing the partnership as a new step in promoting Korean culture and heritage to international audiences.
To commemorate the occasion, RM visited the museum on June 19 alongside museum director You Hong-jun. During the tour, he explored several exhibitions, including Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art and Kim Hongdo: Painting His Era.
RM has long been known for his passion for art, museums, and cultural preservation. Over the years, he has frequently shared his appreciation for Korean history and visual arts, earning recognition as one of the most prominent art supporters in the entertainment industry.
Promoting Korean Culture on a Global Stage
As the museum’s first global ambassador, RM will help introduce Korean history, traditions, and artistic heritage to people around the world.
The collaboration aims to create stronger connections between Korea’s cultural legacy and international audiences. Museum officials believe RM’s global influence will encourage more people to explore and appreciate Korean art, history, and heritage.
The partnership also reflects South Korea’s growing cultural influence worldwide, driven by the global popularity of K-pop, Korean cinema, and Korean art.
RM’s Influence in the Global Art World Continues to Grow
RM’s involvement in the art community extends far beyond museum visits.
In October 2026, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will launch a special exhibition titled RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me. The exhibition will run through February 2027 and feature nearly 200 artworks.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view pieces from RM’s personal collection alongside selected works from the museum’s archives, offering a unique insight into the artistic inspirations that have shaped the BTS star.
BTS’ Highly Anticipated World Tour
Meanwhile, BTS is currently undertaking its highly anticipated 2026–2027 world tour following the group’s reunion after completing mandatory military service.
The group returned earlier this year with its new album Arirang and began a massive global tour that includes stops across Asia, North America, Europe, Latin America, and Australia.
With nearly 80 concerts scheduled through early 2027, BTS continues to strengthen its position as one of the most influential music acts in the world.
More Than a Music Icon
RM’s appointment as the first Global Public Relations Ambassador of the National Museum of Korea highlights his growing role as a cultural ambassador. Beyond music, he continues to promote art, education, and heritage, helping introduce Korean culture to new audiences worldwide.
As BTS continues its global success, RM’s latest achievement demonstrates how artists can use their influence to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage for future generations.
