The district administration has directed that all schools and anganwadi centres in Khordha district will remain closed from April 20 to April 23. The decision comes as the region experiences intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures rising significantly over the past few days.
Officials stated that the move is focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of students, particularly younger children who are more vulnerable to extreme weather conditions.
Applies to Government and Private Institutions
According to the official directive issued by the District Collector, the closure applies to all government as well as private educational institutions across the district. Anganwadi centres, which cater to early childhood care, are also included in the order.
The administration has urged institutions and families to follow safety advisories during this period.
Focus on Child Safety and Health
The decision reflects a preventive approach to minimise exposure to extreme heat. Authorities emphasised that children are especially at risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses during such weather conditions.
