Bolangir: An elderly woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Baghajharan village under Khaprakhol Block in Bolangir district late last night.
The deceased woman has been identified as Basanti Angaria, of the same locality.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Basanti had come outside of her home at around 9.15 pm on Saturday to attend nature’s call. Meanwhile, she came across the pachyderm.
On being informed, the forest official reached the spot and initiated a probe in this regard.
Sources said two giant tuskers from Komna area adjoining Nuapada district were spotted roaming at many places including Lathor village under Khaprakhol Block in broad daylight yesterday.
