A wedding celebration in Nuagaon, Nayagarh, turned tragic when 22-year-old Biki Kulu suffered a fatal electrocution.
The incident occurred on April 23 during his elder brother Gopal Kulu’s wedding festivities at Kokerma Munda Tol village under Hatibadi police limits.
Witnesses said the joyous atmosphere quickly shifted to chaos when Biki collapsed after receiving an electric shock. His friend, who tried to rescue him, sustained injuries. Both were rushed to Hatibadi Group Health Centre for treatment.
Doctors referred Biki to Rourkela Government Hospital due to his critical condition. Despite efforts, doctors declared him dead after examination. His friend remains under treatment.
Police from Hatibadi station reached the site and began an investigation. They registered a case under UD number 6 and sent the body for post-mortem. After completion, the body was handed over to the family.
The deceased hailed from Tumkela village under Rourkela Sector 15 police limits. His sudden death shocked relatives and villagers who had gathered for the wedding. The accident cast a pall of grief over the celebrations.
Hatibadi police confirmed that ASI Subh Nath Mohant has initiated a detailed probe into the incident. Authorities assured that all aspects of the case will be examined thoroughly.
