In response to the intense heatwave sweeping across Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an early summer vacation for all schools in the state.
Keeping the safety and well-being of students in mind, the Chief Minister has approved a proposal from the School and Mass Education Department to advance the summer break. Schools will remain closed starting from April 27, 2026.
The decision applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools across the state. The move aims to protect children from the extreme temperatures and health risks associated with the ongoing severe heatwave.
However, previously scheduled examinations, census-related work, and other essential office functions will continue as planned without any disruption.
This proactive step by the Odisha government underscores its priority on student safety during the peak summer season, when daytime temperatures have been soaring and affecting normal life in many parts of the state.
