A tragic road accident on the Chahata-Naraj ring road claimed the life of a 22-year-old youth and left another critically injured on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Dinesh Sethi, a resident of the Lalbag police station area who worked at a saree store in Dolamundai. Dinesh and his friend had visited the Siddheshwar temple in Naraj on a scooty for Ganesh Puja and were returning home in the evening.
The collision occurred near the old Dhabaleswar slope when a speeding Bullet motorcycle crashed directly into their scooty. The impact flung both youths off their vehicle, causing them to collide with another oncoming motorcycle.
Phase-2 police officers rescued the victims and rushed them to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors pronounced Dinesh dead on arrival, and his friend remains in critical condition under treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported that a woman was driving the speeding Bullet at the time of the crash. Police have seized Dinesh’s body for post-mortem and are scanning CCTV footage along the route to identify the vehicle and its rider.
