Newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Odisha in-charge D. Purandeswari arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday for her first visit to the State after being assigned responsibility for overseeing the party’s Odisha affairs.
Accompanied by BJP co-in-charge Swadesh Singh, Purandeswari is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with party leaders and organisational functionaries at the State BJP headquarters during her two-day visit.
The organisational review is expected to cover grassroots outreach, the functioning of different organisational units, coordination between the party organisation and government, and preparations for upcoming Panchayat and urban local body elections.
Purandeswari is scheduled to meet Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal and leaders responsible for the party’s 37 organisational districts. State organisation secretary Manas Mohanty and other senior functionaries are also expected to attend the discussions.
Later in the day, Purandeswari is slated to hold meetings with ministers and legislators who have been assigned responsibilities as district in-charges. The discussions are expected to include a review of organisational activities and outreach programmes at the grassroots level.
She is also scheduled to meet the party’s general secretaries and vice-presidents to discuss organisational matters and future strategies.
The visit comes as political parties in Odisha prepare for upcoming local-body elections. The BJP’s organisational meetings are expected to focus on strengthening booth-level networks and coordination among its organisational units across the State.
