Vigilance Arrested Khurdha JE Sangeeta Mohapatra for Taking Rs 50,000 Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance apprehended Smt Sangeeta Mohapatra, Junior Engineer (JE), Khurdha block while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 today.

According to the report, two road work orders of Rs. 18 lakhs under the MP Lad Project were awarded to the complainant contractor. After the completion of the work, Engineer Mohapatra demanded Rs. 1.8 lakh as a 10 percent commission to pass the bill. Already Smt Mohapatra had taken 1.5 lakh then Shishir Mangaraj, father of the contractor lodged a complaint with the Vigilance.

As per the previous plan, while the contractor was paying the remaining Rs 50,000 today, a team led by Khurda Vigilance DSP Chandrakala Jena and Nayagarh DSP Pratyush Mohapatra raided and arrested the assistant engineer Sangeeta Mohapatra and seized Rs 50,000 from her, informed the Vigilance DSP.

The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the possession of Smt Mohapatra. Registering a case Under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment ) Act, 2018, Bhubaneswar Vigilance has initiated simultaneous searches at two other locations of Smt Mohapatra.
