A local court in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district today sentenced five persons to a seven-year jail term in an ATM robbery case.
However, two convicts, both natives of Haryana who were on bail, managed to flee from the court premises before police could take them into custody.
Five persons were arrested for robbing an ATM near the Nabarangpur town block office on the late night of January 31, 2024. While three of them were under judicial custody, two were on bail.
The Honorable Court sentenced all the five accused to 7 years in jail each. However, after the verdict came from the court, the two convicts escaped from the courtroom itself.
The police are continuing to raid various places and are trying to arrest the two remaining accused.
