The 59th All-India DGP-IGP Conference, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and others, concluded in Bhubaneswar on Sunday with stringent security measures in place.
Shah inaugurated the conference at Lok Seva Bhawan on November 29, while Prime Minister Modi presided over the meetings on Saturday and Sunday.
Following a three-day stay in the Odisha capital, both the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister left for Delhi from Biju Patnaik International Airport.
The conference, which was also attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the DGPs of all states and Union territories, focused on various security-related issues. It aimed to devise strategies to counteract both current and emerging national security challenges, including left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics, cybercrime, and economic threats.
Discussions at the conference also covered the implementation of new criminal laws, policing initiatives, and the sharing of best practices.
In response to threats from extremist groups, the Odisha Police had put in place comprehensive security arrangements.
