Aiming for the comprehensive development of all communities in Southern Odisha, the Odisha Government has constituted a Task Force for the formation of the Southern Odisha Development Council (SODC), announced Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the State Legislative Assembly today.
The Task Force is tasked with developing the framework for the SODC. It will recommend which blocks and districts should be included within the council’s jurisdiction, the Chief Minister stated.
The government has instructed the Task Force to present a report within 30 days from its inception.
The Task Force, headed by the Minister of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities Department, Nityananda Gond, comprises nine members and three ex-officio members.
The members include Commerce and Transport, and Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Digapahandi MP Siddhant Mohapatra, Malkangiri MP Narasingh Madkami, Paralakhemundi MP Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi, Phulbani MP Umacharana Mallik, and Pottangi MP Ramachandra Madkami.
The ex-officio members are the RDC (Southern Division), the RDC (Central Division), and the CEO of the Western Odisha Development Council. The Special Secretary of the Planning and Coordination Department is appointed as the Member Convener.
