Bhubaneswar: A street vendor has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his bedroom at Badagada area in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Ajit Sahani of the same area.

According to reports, the deceased had a bed-sheet shop near Bhubaneswar Market Building for the last 20 years and was evicted by permanent traders of the business hub a few days ago.

Meanwhile, the family members have alleged that Sahani committed suicide as he was under mental stress due to loss in business.

“Since the permanent traders at the Market Building area evicted him, he was under mental stress. As he lost his livelihood and daily income after the administration evicted the shop forcefully, he took such extreme step,” a member of Sahani’s family alleged.

On being informed about the incident, police have reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to a nearby hospital for post mortem. Police have also interrogated the family members while further investigations are underway.
