Bhubaneswar: Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Tuesday announced that the state government has not taken a decision yet regarding the reopening of schools and resumption of physical lessons for students of classes I to VIII.

He stated that the decision to reopen the schools in the state for junior classes would be taken up after discussion with Chief Minister. The schools in the state will reopen with several Covid-19 guidelines in place.

However, we are yet to take a final decision on reopening of schools for class I to VIII students, said Dash.

He further stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation following a surge in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The schools in Odisha have been shut down since March 2020 in view of the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and the nationwide lockdown imposed by the central government to reduce the risk of infection among citizens.
